What is bodybuilding?

Obviously, the word bodybuilding consists of two words – body and building, meaning this is the process of creating or changing a person’s body shape. People can modify the shape of their bodies by changing the concentration of subcutaneous fat, or increasing the muscle mass. To do this, they need some strength exercises, stick to a high-calorie diet (including sports supplements), and sometimes even steroid and anabolic hormones.

Body sculpting is an essential part of the whole bodybuilding process. This process requires special workouts, involving aerobic training, use of fat burners, diuretic drugs and drugs preventing catabolism. Not mentioning a beautiful body needs a special care: body lotion or body oil. Those, who combine aesthetics, will power and determination, are called body-builders.

Everybody knows Eugen Sandow – he is a father of bodybuilding. He funded the first beauty athletic competition in 1901. Many athletes have used his special training program, since he was considered one of the strongest men in the world. To show how strong he was, he lifted a barbell with two people on each side and his chest could hold the weight equal to three horses.

Bodybuilding competition – is a sports kind where judges choose the best body-builder by estimating the esthetics and rate of physical shape of contestants, who should pose and demonstrate their muscle shape.

Male bodybuilding competition consists of three rounds: during the first one – qualifying round, an athlete must demonstrate the mandatory poses, such as – front and rear lat spread, front and rear double biceps, side chest, side triceps, abdominal and thigh. During the second round, athletes display their free program. The third and final round involves both mandatory and free programs.

Fitness has become a sports and people must treat it like sports. Before start doing bodybuilding, men and women must learn some information about it: how to start, what to do first, how to build muscles, how to avoid traumas, how to count calories, what body types are, etc.

You will never succeed in any kind of sports, not just bodybuilding, if you do not have enough knowledge about it. And of course, you will need a strong determination to get a beautiful body and you should set realistic goals to achieve the greatest results.
